Poems of Encouragement
by James Marks
Pilgrims' Prayer
Pilgrims' prayers are
blessed by Jesus
When their halting words ring true,
For their simplest prayers are sweetest
When their hearts are praying too,
And even thought to mortal ears,
Their prayers may seem so weak
In heaven's realms my Jesus hears,
And loves the words they speak.
So many pilgrims on the
journey
Are fainting, falling by the way,
For strength is failing while they hurry
And in their haste forget to pray,
But those who wait upon my Jesus
Find that He their strength renews,
On wings of prayer they'll soar like eagles;
Prepared to see their journey through.
My Jesus is
Praying
Though no-one remembers
my needs in their prayers,
Or knows of the sorrows and pains that I bear;
Though some may forsake me, and I stand all alone
Still my Jesus is praying, sweet words for "His
own".
What difference is
distance when He prays for me?
For though on this earth His face I can't see
My Jesus is watching, and I'm never alone
For my Jesus is praying, sweet words for "His
own".
Little Sins
A selfish thought, a
sinful deed:
Each 'little' sin is a little seed
And in your heart, around God's Throne,
These deadly little seeds are sown;
And if they are allowed to grow,
It won't be long before you'll know
God's pleasure and His joy so true,
No longer sheds its light on you.
